Progressive Project
To me being progressive means to be passionate about something and, really caring for that subject. As well as actually being motivated to continue to do good by trying your hardest when it comes to actually making a difference in the world no matter how small or big the problem is.
The reason why I decided to pick the water pollution group as my progressive project is because I feel like I can really relate to that topic about water and think of an idea to help stop poluution. I live in San Diego and here we are surrounded by water in this beautiful place to be at but, constantly seeing pollution in our water ways is heartbreaking. I was very determined to make a difference and I believe my team and I really figured out a way to help stop water pollution.

Ideate:This is a similar picture to what our group made about water pollution. This is called a mind map to gather information on solutions to help stop water pollution based off of ideas.

Prototypes:
Here we have awareness signs that we would like in place at gutters to show awareness that anything that makes its way to the drain leads directly to the ocean.
Documentary of Progressive Day that took place in Ocean Beach to show people what me made and what our plans are also, a Self-Reflection viedo discussing Progressive Day. During our self reflections we reflect on our progressive day and what we liked and did not like about it as well as things we should have improved on.
Self Reflection
The most challenging part of the work around the Progressive Challenge for me was thinking of a prototype. There was so many ideas that we could come up with but we did not know how we could make it possible. The way I overcame this was to think smaller but bigger at the same time. Think about what is being dramatically effected and come up with a small idea that would have a large impact. Soon we came up with the perfect idea; a mesh cover that will go over rain gutters on the road to prevent trash from going into the ocean. As well as making big awareness street signs by gutters to make it known that whatever is goes down the gutter goes into the ocean. I most appreciated the work around the Progressive Challenge by really getting to learn and understand water pollution and how serious this problem is. I gained this perspective by having the opportunity to acually do something I care about and being able to actually make a difference, and that is something I'am proud of because this project was very different from the rest of the projects we usually do and through my hard work during this project I felt like I made somewhat of a difference. I've learned so much about progressivism as a whole not only what it means but also it is something that has changed me to think beyond the classroom and it is something that I will refer back to very often so that I'm motivated and be progressive about something I'm passionate about. It amazed me how many people actually liked our idea to cover gutters and prevent trash because, it was such a simple idea that could truly make a difference. I really enjoyed this project and it was one of the best in my eyes as of right now I do not have anything that I would like to make a change to regarding our prototype because in my eyes I made somewhat of a diffrence during this project.
